The A.P.P. is an international, non-profit organization dedicated to the dissemination of vital health and safety information related to body piercing, piercers, health care providers and the general public.
In order to become an A.P.P. member, a piercer must submit detailed information about the health, safety and infection control practices they follow. This information is then reviewed by the A.P.P. to determine if the piercer meets the health and safety standards of the organization. In addition, each piercer must submit information, including a walk-through video, documenting the studio where they work. This helps ensure the layout of the studio is appropriate.
While A.P.P. membership is not a validation of the technical skills a piercer possesses, it does show that the piercer practices health and safety standards designed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
Even though A.P.P. membership is not mandatory, we believe it is an important step we can take to help our clients feel more at-ease about our standards and practices.
